Kung Christina

For sometime now a story idea have been germinating in my fertile mind. I'm a great fan of SciFi and alternate histories. I am also transsexual (m2f), queer and generally outlaw minded.

During Stockholm Pride a few weeks ago all the pieces fell into place.

One piece is that Queen Kristina also was some kind of gender outlaw and queer.

Another piece is that a friend of my is the owner of a castle outside Stockholm, Wenngarns Slott. Randolf is also a fan of science fiction. And I talked with him about an alternate history story starting somewhere in Wenngarns Slott.

The third piece was provided by a dear old friend that I hadn't met for over 30 years, Pia Laskar. She was one of the guides at a boat tour around Stockholm during Stockholm Pride. The theme was lesbians and queers from "king" Kristina to the present day. As soons as she said "kung Kristina" I had the base of the story clear in my head.

More about the historical queen here: http://oregonstate.edu/instruct/phl302/philosophers/wasa.html

The basis of the story is that an M2F transwoman has been commissioned to restore some paintings in the litle curch in Wenngarns Castle. She is on hormones but have not yet had any operation. As she puts her tools away in a small room she gets a strange dizzy feeling. Re-entering the church she finds a young woman on her knees in a pew crying. She is dressed in 17th century clothes and is of course Kristina.

The time travel is only possible for the present day protagonist. And only for a limited number of trips.

Kristina gets hormones from the future as well as knowledge of the future.

She invests human and economic resources in the colony Nya Sverige on the North American East coast. Thus ousting the English, Dutch and French atempts to get a foothold.

She abdicates the Swedish crown, establish an enlightened monarchy/democracy/anarchy on the american coast. In close cooperation with the natives and with a freedom not heard of before.

She lives openly with the woman from the future as her wife.

The intellectuals from Europe flocks to her court.

So the story outline is ready. Why don't I write it? Firstly because I don't know if I'm that good. Secondly because it would be interesting to collaborate on the project.

What form the collaboration should take I don't know. I'm open to suggestions.
